ADU Tour & Summer Film Series!
In June, we're exploring ADUs around Raleigh and staying cool with summer films.
Happy Summer CITYBUILDERs!
We’re looking forward to a season full of sunshine and more ways to connect and build the pro-housing community together!
This summer, we’re putting our usual Book Club on hold. (We’ll be back in September with Stuck: How the Privileged and the Propertied Broke the Engine of American Opportunity by Yoni Applebaum if you want to get a head start on reading.)
In lieu of our Book Club, we’re thrilled to announce a Summer Film Tour! We’re partnering with Better Cities Film Festival and Southern Urbanism to showcase a selection of short, documentary films highlighting housing and urbanism from across the country. This will be a family-friendly evening, and a great chance to escape the summer heat, sit back, relax, and enjoy thought-provoking and inspiring films.
Our first movie night is June 25th at the new FullSteam Theater in the American Tobacco Campus. Tickets are available now. Join us in Durham in June, Cary in July, or Raleigh in August. We can’t wait to see you there!
For our June Policy Talk, we’re excited to showcase the work of Paige Kanipe. Paige is a recent graduate of North Carolina State University with a Masters of Advanced Architectural Studies. Her graduate thesis work focused on how buildings can be deconstructed rather than demolished in order to preserve building materials and reduce construction waste. Join us for a virtual lunch and learn on June 16th to learn more about this innovative, sustainable approach to building.
And if you haven’t already, be sure to sign up to join us this weekend for a tour of ADUs in Raleigh! We’re excited to celebrate and show off what’s been built since Raleigh passed groundbreaking reforms in 2020 to allow ADU construction by-right in the city. Come see the progress we’ve made!
We can’t wait to see you there; happy summer y’all!
