Join fellow Citybuilders in conversation and learning throughout June!
Happy (almost) June everyone!
It’s been six months since I began my time with CITYBUILDER — so much has happened since then! Attendance at our events continues to grow, and it has been such a pleasure connecting with so many of you in person. We are still piloting our new calendar page so please be sure to check that out and plan to attend an upcoming event!
As I mentioned last time, our followers continue to grow across platforms. In the last 30 days, we’ve had more than 100 new paid subscribers to our substack. This small contibution makes a BIG difference for our operatoins. So, if you haven’t already joined as a paid subscriber, please become a member today! And to those of you who are already making a financial contribution, thank you!
We thank you all for your continued support and are excited to connect with you at an event in June.

CITYBUILDER BOOK CLUB: Palaces for the People
Wednesday June 25th, 12PM - 1 PM
in Raleigh at Press Coffee, 400 Hillsborough St.
In Palaces for the People, Eric Klinenberg emphasizes the critical role of social infrastructure—such as libraries, parks, community centers, and other shared public spaces—in addressing deep-rooted societal challenges, including the housing crisis. By highlighting how these spaces foster community resilience, reduce isolation, and build trust among diverse populations, Klinenberg argues that investing in social infrastructure is as vital as building affordable housing itself. His insights are particularly relevant to housing development, as they broaden the conversation beyond units and zoning to include the civic and communal fabric necessary for thriving, equitable neighborhoods. The book offers a compelling framework for policymakers and developers to consider how physical environments can promote social cohesion and long-term housing stability.Eric Braun will lead this casual discussion over lunch at PRESS Cafe in Raleigh. Reading the book beforehand is encouraged, but not required.
RSVP here so we can let PRESS know how many CITYBUILDERs to expect.
